VerdEnergia’s 5-month internships begin with an intensive 3-week Permaculture Design Certificate Course. The concepts learned in this course provide a valuable introduction to concepts and techniques that interns will implement in the following months. We focus on using the inherent complexity of natural systems, which informs the design of sustainable and regenerative systems for agriculture, structures, and communities. After the initial course, students focus on a practical application period in which they receive further detailed training and apply what they’ve learned.
Our staff teaches skillsets that can be applied to any climate or place in the world. Each intern is required to have a personal project in an area of their interest. Interns receive project management guidance and gain valuable experience in managing timelines, resources, and people. Our program emphasizes skill building in personal accountability and teamwork, with the purpose of building skills and experiences that will interest future employers. Our courses are geared to train tomorrow’s leaders in fields such as policy, economics, non-governmental development work, environmental science, agriculture, natural resource management, and green business. We hope to foster the development of more realistic, effective, and holistic practitioners in those fields.
